COVID-19 policy

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, reduced the congregation of large groups of people.

The convention’s sponsoring organizations and the hotel have put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, we cannot guarantee that you or your guests will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, attending the conference could increase your risk of contracting COVID-19. Preventative measures could include social distancing, mask requirements, and other common mitigation methods. As the conference is in Washington, D.C., all local policies and requirements will be in effect.

Conference attendees are required to be fully vaccinated as defined by the CDC —

“Fully vaccinated” means you have received your complete vaccine regimen (2 shots for Pfizer and Moderna, 1 shot for Johnson and Johnson), and 14 days or more has passed since your final shot. Any medical exemptions to the vaccine will require proof.

ACP and CMA conference officials will be checking vaccination status on-site.

Participants are required to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (symptoms typically include fever, cough and shortness of breath) and, if they experience symptoms of COVID-19 during the conference, to self-isolate and to contact convention staff by email. Any participant that tests positive for COVID-19 within 14 days after attending the conference is required to notify convention staff.

We’re working to keep everyone safe, but everyone should travel at their own discretion. The convention and convention sponsors are not responsible for any additional expenses if someone should test positive with COVID. Those expenses include, but are not limited to, extended hotel stays, PPE not provided by the event and transportation change fees.
